Preventing wildlife damage on agricultural land is an ongoing issue.<\/span>\u00a0Red and fallow deer cause feeding and treading damage to field crops, and the massive burrowing of wild boars is known to most of us.<\/span>\u00a0Damage costs caused by wildlife quickly reach thousands of euros and the compensation paid by the state often does not cover the actual cost of damage.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

A mobile electric fence can be used for sustainable deterrence\u00a0<\/span><\/span>of wild animals.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>The strained litz wires, fence tapes and signal tapes are a mechanical and optical barrier, but the most effective\u00a0wildlife deterrent\u00a0is achieved by\u00a0the current conduction of the wires\u00a0in an electric fence .<\/span>
\nHere are some tips on different fences:<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The Fence for Wild Animal Deterrence<\/h2>\n

For a fence to function reliably, a well thought-out plan and high-quality design of the electric fence is essential.<\/span>\u00a0Depending on the fence length<\/span>, we recommend solid wooden posts with insulators for the corners<\/a>, a 12V rechargeable battery or a 230 V power supply unit<\/a> and high-quality conductor material<\/a>.<\/span>\u00a0Regardless of the type of wildlife, you can provide the top fence line with a blue signal tape for better visibility.<\/span>\u00a0Of course, an electric fence is only as good as its grounding<\/a>, so be sure to have an efficient one!<\/span>\u00a0And do not forget the gate for passage \ud83d\ude09<\/span>
\nA successful electric fence also needs daily monitoring along the fence system, removing vegetation above and below the fence, and a regularly check of the battery voltage.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The Deterrent Fence for Red Deer<\/h2>\n

Red deer live in herds\u00a0in semi-open landscapes, and<\/span>\u00a0cover a large portion of food requirements with field crops.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The deterrent fence for red deer should have a height of 1.60 to 1.80 m.<\/span>\u00a0One or two strained wires or tapes are generally sufficient, except in areas with wild boars.<\/span>\u00a0In this case, additional\u00a0wires should be strained near the ground; see below.<\/span>\u00a0The\u00a0fence\u00a0voltage should\u00a0be\u00a04000 V\u00a0to 5000\u00a0V\u00a0and\u00a0provide\u00a0a pulse\u00a0energy of 1 to\u00a05 joules to\u00a0the<\/span>\u00a0fence<\/span>.\u00a0In addition, it helps to hang rags or fluttering tapes on the fence in regular intervals when there is a lot of wildlife.<\/span>\u00a0This way, deer are able to see the fence even better.

The Deterrent Fence for Fallow Deer<\/span><\/h2>\n

Fallow deer\u00a0often live in large herds, separated by gender.\u00a0They like to eat milky wheat and oats, potatoes or young corn plants.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The deterrent fence for fallow deer is somewhat more complicated since they tend to jump through the wires.<\/span>\u00a0It is recommended to use 8 strands at a total\u00a0height of 160 cm, with about\u00a020 cm between each strand.<\/span>\u00a0The\u00a0fence<\/span>\u00a0voltage should<\/span>\u00a0be\u00a04000 V\u00a0to 5000\u00a0V\u00a0and\u00a0provide\u00a0a pulse\u00a0energy of 1 to\u00a05 joules to\u00a0the<\/span>\u00a0fence<\/span>.\u00a0In the case of fallow deer, there is a danger that the deer could entangle their antlers in the blue plastic tape, so it\u00b4s better to leave it out.<\/span>\u00a0For the same reason, it is advised that you\u00a0do not use an electric WildNet!<\/span><\/p>\n

The Deterrent Fence for Wild Boars
\n<\/span><\/h2>\n

Wild boars like high-growth field crops, such as rapeseed, rye and corn.\u00a0<\/span>This naturally leads to considerable damage.\u00a0In order to protect the fields effectively from boars, the electric fence must be set up and connected before the crops are highly grown!<\/span>\u00a0Otherwise, animals may already be fenced in.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The deterrent fence for wild boars should have a height of 50 to 60 cm.<\/span>\u00a0Due to the strong expected vegetation, we recommend a fence energizer with an impulse energy of more than 5 joules.<\/span>\u00a0Three current-carrying wires or tapes at 20, 40 and 50 to 60 cm high is a proven method for boar deterrence.<\/span>\u00a0For the deterrent of boars, you can also use a\u00a0WildNet<\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n
