Fence connectors are used where two ends of the conductor material are to be connected with one another. Be it in the construction of an electric fence or because the conductor material is torn and must be repaired. Furthermore, fence connectors can also be used as starting and ending points of the conductor material, e.g. as a gate handle connector.
Connectors made of stainless steel or galvanized steel have stood the test. But beware: galvanized steel and copper are not compatible. Always use stainless steel connectors when connecting conductor material to copper wires!
Below, we describe different variants and why Litzclip fences connectors are in any case the better alternative.
Tape connectors are available in the usual widths of 12.5 mm, 20 mm and 40 mm. With conventional tape connectors, the fence tape is threaded over the stirrups and then clamped and held by its own pulling force.
In the process, the following problems can arise:
- When the tensile force is high, the belts slip into the corners of the belt connector.
- When the tension is low, the brackets loosen again and the belt slips out.
- The ends of the tape are not fixed — it can still cause interruptions in the tape current conduction and sparking.
- Re-tensioning is somewhat difficult as the brackets both guide and fix the tape.
When using Litzclip tape connectors, the tape ends are threaded through the opening of a stainless steel plate and fixed with plastic plugs. This prevents the slings from slipping. The plastic plugs press the tapes end firmly onto the stainless steel plate, which ensures a clean current flow. Since strip guide and fixing are separated from each other, the fence tape can be re-tensioned much easier.
Rope Connectors and Wire Connectors
Rope and wire connectors work according to the same principle, they differ only in size: wire usually has a diameter of approx. 3 mm, fence rope of approx. 6 mm. In conventional rope and wire conductors, the conductor material is threaded into the connector and then fixed with one or two screws or nuts. The downside is that you need tools. And when repairing cracked conductor material you need a coworker, in order to re-connect the two ends with a rope connector.
Litzclip rope and wire connectors work according to the same principle as the Litzclip tape connectors: the ends of the conductor material are simply threaded through the openings in the stainless steel plate and fixed with plastic caps. This is much faster than with conventional connectors and you do not need a tool or a second person.
In addition, more than two strands can be connected to one another with this principle, which is very helpful in the case of torn sheep nets, for example. Litzclip wire connectors are also available as T- connectors for three and as a cross connector for four wires. Again, the ends of the wire are fixed by the plastic plugs to the stainless steel plate, which ensures the current conduction.
Gate Handle Connectors
Gate handle connectors are available only from Litzclip. They are used to attach the conductor material to the gate handle or to the gate insulator. The advantages of Litzclip gate handle connectors for fence tape is that you can simply hook them in and quickly re-tension the tape at the gate handle.
